The Hygge Retreat
at Camp Bennett
This beautiful modern Scandi ADU sits on peaceful acreage in the Selle valley. We worked with the owners to create a tranquil, healthy retreat space that can hosts family, friends, and retreat guests. Thanks to a heated concrete slab, powerful ERV system, and double-stud walls with service cavity, this house was built to minimise mold risks long term. A SIGA vapor barrier safeguards the exterior walls to prevent moisture seepage, while dry heat sources help keep interior humidity levels low. Finished with locally milled cedar siding and custom white pine cabinet fronts from a nearby harvested tree, this home is a true Idaho treasure in a breathtaking location.

Cedar Siding
Clad with raw cedar siding harvested on site
Interior Finishes
the vaulted 12/12 ceiling is clad with white pine shiplap from the same tree as the lower kitchen cabinets. All white pine was harvested on site and milled in Bonners Ferry.

Heating and Cooling
The home is heated with radiant in-floor heat, and has a single-head mini split for cooling. It also has a natural gas fireplace for ambience. The ERV system is in the attic, providing steady fresh air 24/7.
Bathrooms
Maroccan Tadelakt provides a stunning backdrop for the spa like bathroom. Antimicrobial, water proof and completely nontoxic, this unexpected star of the bathroom checked all the boxes.
